The Parlour Barber Shop + Haberdashery is a place where a man can come to look his best from head to toe. The provide you with traditional and modern men’s haircuts, hot lather shaves, American made men’s clothing, provisions, and so much more. It’s a place where you can just drop in, grab a beer, and be yourself. I was extremely excited when Tony and Sarah contacted me to listen to their needs and deliver a branding that would embody the rockabilly vibe they wanted to capture. The first place we started was with their logo.

“We want it to be tough but approachable, hard yet sophisticated.” Those were Tony and Sarah’s exact words when we sat down to talk about building a logo around their brand new barber shop concept. 

Starting with the sheers I asked myself “how do you make sheers tough?” That is when I came up with the idea of combining the sheers with the brass knuckles. That’s tough! Tony brought up a good point though that the sheers only represented one aspect of the business. The haberdashery was not reflected in the single mark. So we brainstormed and then Tony came up with the idea of incorporating a cobblers anvil. 

For the main font I wanted something handwritten as if the barber himself wrote it out. For the subheading a san-sarif font with the two aspects of the business being tied together by the “+” which is a nod to a barber’s roll through history in the medical field. 

The web site you can visit HERE was on the cutting edge in the use of video as an element of the design when it was first constructed in 2015. Video now some six years later is commonplace in the web design industry. The site had to be clean-cut and contemporary. It needed to be hard-working, fashionable, no-nonsense, and avant-garde. The site had to be a reflection of the character of Tony and Sarah. When you are in an industry where you deal on a very personal level with your clients everything about your branding has to be authentic.
