A Design Rooted in Rockford’s Identity

When tasked with creating the logo, I knew it had to tell Rockford’s story in a way that resonated with hockey fans and the local community. Every element of the logo reflects a unique aspect of our city:

• The Gear: Representing Rockford’s skilled labor force, the gear symbolizes the city’s enduring spirit of craftsmanship and innovation.

• Jefferson Street Bridge: A true icon of Rockford, this beloved landmark serves as a visual anchor, tying the design to the heart of the city.

• The Flying Craft and Planets: These elements honor Rockford’s incredible aerospace industry. With components manufactured right here that are now on the surface of Mars, Rockford’s contributions to space exploration are nothing short of extraordinary.

• The Screw City “R”: Paying homage to Rockford’s historic nickname, the Screw City, the “R” symbolizes the city’s pioneering legacy in manufacturing and its lasting impact on industry.

Design Philosophy

The logo’s color palette—a bold combination of red, black, and white—aligns with the Rockford IceHogs’ team colors, creating a strong visual connection to our hometown team. The typography is sleek and modern, blending seamlessly with the design’s industrial and futuristic themes.

Incorporating these diverse elements into a cohesive design was both a challenge and a joy. My goal was to create something that not only represents the AHL All-Star Classic but also serves as a source of pride for Rockford residents. This logo is more than just a symbol for an event; it’s a tribute to who we are as a community.

The response to the logo has been overwhelming. From local hockey fans to community leaders, people have shared their excitement and pride in seeing Rockford’s story told through the design. Hearing that the logo resonates with so many has been the most rewarding part of this journey.

As we prepare to welcome hockey’s brightest stars to Rockford on February 10-11, 2026, this logo will serve as a rallying point for our city. It’s a reminder of our achievements, our potential, and the incredible community that makes Rockford such a special place.
